Ellen L. Cohen is an Assistant United States Attorney in the West Palm Beach office of the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Florida. She has been a prosecutor for more than 27 years. Ms. Cohen began her career as a prosecutor in 1980 at the District Attorneys Office for Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. In 1983, she moved to the District Attorneys Office for Blair County, Pennsylvania, to be the First Assistant D.A. From 1988 to 1990, Ms. Cohen was a senior attorney for the American Prosecutors Research Institute (a research and writing arm of the National District Attorneys Association). Ms. Cohen joined the United States Attorneys Office in 1990.

During the course of her career with the US Attorneys Office, Ms. Cohen has gained extensive experience in the prosecution of crimes of fraud and particularly fraud to obtain mortgages. She has presented lectures for the Department of Justice National Advocacy Center, the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials, and the Florida Department of Finance.

Ms. Cohen was graduated from Syracuse University College of Law, Syracuse, New York, and from George Williams College, Downers Grove, Illinois, with her Bachelors Degree, magna cum laude. Ms. Cohen is admitted to practice in state and federal courts for Pennsylvania and Florida, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
