Robert Strupp

Robert StruppRobert Strupp is the Director of Research and Policy with the Community Law Center, in Baltimore, Maryland ( www.communitylaw.org). The Community Law Center provides legal representation and advocacy to grassroots organizations, non-profits and small businesses. Mr. Strupp is a member of the Baltimore Homeownership Preservation Coalition, and serves as the Chair of its Enforcement Committee. Created earlier this year at Mr. Strupp’s urging, this Committee seeks to facilitate better communication among enforcement and regulatory agencies mandated to protect consumers and empowered to prosecute and sanction individuals and businesses engaged in illegal real estate practices. As a consequence of Mr. Strupp’s efforts, he has become a resource for the media and other organizations seeking information on the latest trends and tactics of possible real estate scammers. Mr. Strupp served on committees formed by both the Maryland Governor and Attorney General to address foreclosure and mortgage issues.

As Director of Research and Policy, Mr. Strupp works to combat predatory and deceptive real estate transactions and related scams that can lead to foreclosure, family tragedies, and abandoned properties. Mr. Strupp directs the research and analysis of transactional data gleaned from land records and other governmental filings, as well as trends and practices within the real estate community, in order to identify predatory and other suspect transactions and to seek solutions to protect the next wave of potential victims.

Mr. Strupp is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and Virginia and, in addition to maintaining a private law practice; he has served as counsel for lenders as well as title and settlement companies. Mr. Strupp serves as a continuing education instructor for real estate licensees and has participated on various panels discussing the topic of predatory and deceptive real estate practices including programs sponsored by the  the Maryland Association of Realtors, National Community Reinvestment Coalition, and American Bar Association.
