Speaker Bio
Robert Maddox, CMB

Robert Maddox, CMBRobert practices with Bradley Arant Rose & White, LLP in the firm’s Financial Services, Compliance and Litigation practice group with an emphasis in mortgage litigation and compliance, title insurance law and commercial/ real estate litigation. In October of 2007, Robert became a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) through the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). He is one of only a handful of attorneys in the nation who have achieved this status and one of only 1,000 professionals who have completed the program since its inception in 1973.

Robert’s practice focuses on mortgage origination litigation including lawsuits involving RESPA, Affiliated Business Arrangements, TILA, HOEPA, and mortgage fraud – both fraud for property and fraud for profit. For servicing clients, Robert has dealt with tax and insurance escrow claims, municipal and government forfeitures, mortgage fraud-flipping, packing and equity stripping lawsuits, wrongful foreclosure and claims for state deceptive trade practice acts.

Robert is an Adjunct Professor at the Cumberland School of Law, where he teaches Real Estate Transfers, Finance and Development and state constitutional law. He also teaches at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, teaching legal and constitutional history. Robert earned his J.D. from Cumberland Law School at Samford University. He is also a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master’s Degree in History, and Bachelor’s degrees in History, and Political Science.
