Defendant Sentenced for Concealing a Mortgage Fraud Scheme

Jay Leonard, a Maryland resident, has been sentenced for his participation in concealing a mortgage fraud scheme. Leonard has been sentenced to 3 months in prison.

Per the Indictment (1st, superseding), Leonard concealed a multi-million dollar mortgage scheme to purchase properties in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC, using mortgage and settlement documents containing false statements and material misrepresentations. Leonard worked as a title agent for various companies, including Sterling Title Company, Aspen Title and Escrow Company, and Falcon Title LLC.

Leonard must surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on August 13, 2010. He was sentenced by J. Frederick Motz, United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Maryland.
