Natasha Swallows-Feagins, 31, Phoenix, Arizona pleaded guilty for her role as a real estate agent representing three buyers who purchased nine homes. Swallows-Feagins pleaded guilty to Misprision of a Felony. Six other co-conspirators have pleaded guilty for their involvement in the conspiracy.
Per court documents, Swallows-Feagins was approached by co-defendants Samuel and Georgiana Dobos to represent three straw buyers. Swallows-Feagins facilitated transactions where loan applications were submitted to lenders containing false information. Swallows-Feagins withheld addenda from the lenders detailing cash back paid to co-conspirators in the amount of $785,500.
All nine home sales that Swallows-Feagins was involved in went into foreclosure. This includes her own residence, sold to a straw buyer, where she received $37,000 in proceeds. The conspiracy involved as many as twenty-six homes that went into foreclosure. Five defendants remain to be sentenced. Two defendants, George Babeti and Brandon Azedegan, were sentenced to prison. Lastly, defendants Daniel Morar and Cosmina Bunea are fugitives that are believed to have fled to Romania.
The case against Swallows-Feagins was based on an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation Division and the FBI.
