Mayor Eldridge Walker is facing charges following indictment by a Sharkey County, Mississippi, Grand Jury for his alleged role in submitting false documents to Federal Home Loan Bank.
The Mayor of Rolling Fork, Mississippi, was arrested by investigators with the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division following indictment by the Sharkey County Grand Jury on two counts of wire fraud and two counts of false pretense. Mayor Walker is alleged in the indictment to have, while doing businesses as Walker Construction, submitted a false invoice concerning alleged work at the home of a Rolling Fork resident “with intent to defraud Federal Home Loan Bank.”
Mayor Walker was booked into the Issaquena County Correctional Facility and is awaiting arraignment in Warren County.
If convicted, the defendant faces up to 30 years behind bars, five years each on the two counts of wire fraud and ten years each on the wire fraud charges.
Attorney General Jim Hood announced the charges.
“We understand the public’s interest in a case particularly when a public official is involved,” said Attorney General Hood. “We can only release what is considered a matter of public record which, at this time, is the facts contained in the indictment.”
