Woman Arrested for Misappropriating Funds Intended for Loan Modification

Rosaura Hernandez, aka Rosa Diaz, South Ozone Park, New York, was arrested on a charge of grand larceny for allegedly taking funds intended for a loan modification and using them for her personal use.

Hernandez was arrested on a charge of Grand Larceny on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 7:30 am.

According to detectives, in 2013, the defendant was contacted by a victim to obtain a loan mortgage modification for her residence in Roosevelt, New York. The victim gave the defendant a total of $10,045 in blank money orders between November 2013 and April 2014. The defendant would then give the victim a receipt payable to the financial institution, but an investigation revealed that the money orders were payable to the defendant for her own personal use.

Rosaura Hernandez surrendered to Nassau County Detectives on September 10, 2014 without incident.

Defendant Hernandez is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and was arraigned on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at First District Court, Hempstead.

The Nassau County Police Department Crimes Against Property Squad announced the arrest.
